Who would have thought that a charitable initiative started in the Făgăraș Mountains would find an echo in a European capital, over 2000 kilometers away? It took one person who believed in the power of community. Then two, three... and soon, an entire network of people who want to contribute.
Since its establishment in February 2016, the ROMPRO Foundation - Romanians for Romanians in the Netherlands has created a strong and dynamic group, which has expanded over time, both in number and in social impact. ROMPRO is a reliable partner and a landmark in society that through innovative actions develops an active and united community, contributes to the good reputations of Romanians in the Netherlands and preserving and affirming the Romanian Identity.
In 2024, the Rompro Foundation in the Netherlands joined the Țara Făgărașului Community Foundation, out of the desire to connect Romanians in the diaspora with valuable initiatives in Romania. Bikeathon Amsterdam is an extension of a long-standing project – Bikeathon Țara Făgărașului – which for over 10 years has been bringing together local communities in support of causes that deserve attention and support.
The event invites Romanians in the Netherlands to actively get involved in a simple but meaningful gesture: pedaling for good. Every kilometer traveled means more than movement – it means solidarity, involvement and direct contribution to projects that change lives in Romania.
